# Create or attach a guest at POS

> Choose the correct guest for an order or add their details during checkout.

Attach a guest when you want an order to appear in that guest’s history for the shop. Search for the person first so you can reuse the right profile. You can add a guest from the same selection screen if no suitable profile exists.

## Who can do this?

Owners, Managers, and Staff can search for guests and create a guest during this workflow. Editing an existing profile through guest management remains an Owner or Manager task.

## Where

In the web app, open **Point of sale**, build the basket, and select **Add guest**. Confirm the shop before choosing a person. Guest profiles belong to the shop where they were created.

## Choose an existing guest

1. Open the guest selector from the basket.
2. Search by part of the name or the beginning of the guest number.
3. Compare the displayed email or phone with the person you are serving.
4. Select the correct guest.
5. Check the guest name in the basket before continuing the order.

Selecting the currently attached guest again removes that selection. If you choose the wrong person, reopen the selector and correct the choice before completing the order. The selector may show only part of a large list; narrow the name search to find the person you need.

Choose and check the guest before continuing to payment for the first time. If you return to the basket after checkout has started, changing or removing the guest there may not update the guest saved on the order. Check the saved order in **History**. If the association is wrong or unclear, ask Tapp support before relying on that guest’s history or sending a receipt.

## Add a guest

Choose **Add new guest** in the selector. Enter the name and at least one contact method: email or phone. Correct any highlighted fields, then submit. When the selector closes, check that the intended guest appears in the basket.

If the email or phone already belongs to an active guest in this shop, Tapp can reuse that profile and update its details. Do not enter a colleague’s or another customer’s contact information as a placeholder. Check the resulting name and contact details rather than repeatedly creating the guest. If the matching profile was already selected in the basket, adding it again can clear the selection. Reopen the selector and choose the existing profile if the guest name is missing.

## Platform and market notes

These steps describe the web checkout in both supported markets. Adding a guest does not itself take payment or complete the order.

## Use the mobile basket

In the mobile app, open the basket and tap **Assign Guest**, or the displayed guest name. Search and select the intended person. To create a profile, choose **Add new guest**, enter a name and at least one contact method, then tap **Create**. For a phone number, select the country code separately. Correct or clear an invalid contact field before submitting.

Check the guest name when the basket reopens. Choose the guest before continuing to payment; the displayed selection alone is not confirmation that the saved order has changed. Check the completed order in **History** if the association is uncertain.

## Troubleshooting

An empty list does not always mean there are no guests: it can also appear when loading fails. Check the shop and connection, reload, and search again before adding a person you expect to find. If creation fails, verify the name, email format, and contact details. If the connection drops after submitting, reload and search for the guest before trying again; their details may already have been saved. If an association fails after selection, the guest may have been removed; refresh and select an active guest. Ask Tapp support if the problem continues.
