# Free a table after a visit

> Close active seating, check the linked booking, and review any remaining orders.

Close the table visit when the party has finished and the table is ready to be released. Passing the expected end time does not automatically free an occupied table; the team must close its active visit.

## Who can do this?

Owners, Managers, and Staff can close active table visits for their shop.

## Where

In the web app, open **Live floor**, select the occupied table, and choose **Close table** in its details. The mobile table details offer **Free up** for an active visit.

## Close the correct visit

1. Check the selected shop, table name, and seated party. Make sure the guests have finished using the table.
2. Review the table’s orders before releasing it. Note the order numbers and any payment, receipt, or other work still to finish. The table panel may not show every order; use order history if one is missing.
3. Choose **Close table**. Read the confirmation and check the table name. Open orders remain in the system.
4. Confirm and wait for the action to complete. If one visit occupies several tables, closing it releases all tables belonging to that visit, not only the table you opened.
5. Refresh the floor and verify the result. The table may show a free state or the next reservation, depending on the schedule.
6. Check the linked reservation and any unfinished orders separately.

## What happens to the booking and orders?

Closing the active visit also attempts to archive its linked booking. If that booking cannot be updated, the table can still be released. Check the booking’s status when the calendar appears unchanged; do not close another visit merely to correct the calendar.

Closing a table does not collect payment, issue a receipt, refund or cancel its orders. The orders remain available in order history, even though they no longer appear in the table’s active-visit panel. Do not use a free table indicator as proof that its bill has been paid.

## Platform and market notes

The web app and mobile app use different labels and confirmation dialogs. These instructions concern a seated, active visit. A **Free up** action shown for an overdue reservation that has not been seated has a different purpose; review the no-show guide before using it. The same distinction applies in both supported markets.

## Troubleshooting

If closing fails, refresh the table details and check whether another team member already ended the visit. If the table is free but the reservation is still active, inspect that booking and use its available status actions or contact Tapp support. If an order still needs attention, find the saved order and finish the appropriate task rather than creating a duplicate. After a connection problem, verify the current table state before repeating the close action.
