# Add a guest or choose a table for an order

> Select a guest for a new order and understand when a table choice links the order to a visit.

Choose a guest before taking payment so their details are available with the order. For table service, check how you started the order: choosing a table in the basket is different from starting an order from a table's active visit.

## Who can do this?

**Owners, Managers and Staff** can select guests and view tables for their shop while preparing an order.

## Where to do it

In the web app, open **Point of sale**. Use **Add guest** or **Add to table** above the basket. Confirm the selected shop before choosing a guest or table.

## Add a guest to a new order

1. Select **Add guest**.
2. Search for the guest and check the matching details.
3. Select the guest to return to the basket.
4. Check the guest name shown with the order before continuing to payment.

To change the selection, reopen the guest picker and choose another guest. Selecting the same guest again removes the selection. Removing a guest from the basket does not delete their guest profile.

A selected guest's contact details can be filled into later payment or receipt forms. Check the recipient before sending anything. These steps describe choosing a guest for a new basket; do not assume that changing the displayed guest changes an order already submitted for payment.

## Choose a table in the basket

Select **Add to table** and browse the tables by room. Individual and combined tables may appear. Choose one table to return to the basket. Selecting the same table again clears that selection.

The color indicator gives a simplified view of table activity. For a combined table, it shows booking activity if any member table has an assignment. A table hidden from online booking can still be selected by staff.

Use **Live floor** to check the current visit before seating guests or adding to a running bill. The indicator does not confirm that a table is available: if current floor information could not be loaded, the picker can still show the table without booking activity.

**The basket's table choice currently changes the displayed table only. It does not attach the saved order to an active table visit.** Do not rely on the table name in the basket as proof that the order will appear on that table's running bill.

## Start an order linked to a table visit

Open **Live floor**, select the occupied table and use **Add order to table**. This starts the order for that active visit. Finish any other basket first, because starting from the table replaces the current basket. After submitting, return to the table and check that the order appears there.

## Platform and market notes

These steps describe the web app for shops in Great Britain and Germany. The mobile app has different controls. The shop selection determines which guests and tables you can choose.

## Troubleshooting

If a guest or table is missing, check the shop and search again. If no tables have been set up, ask an Owner or Manager to configure them. For an order missing from a table, check History before creating another order and contact Tapp support if its connection to the visit is unclear.
