# Choose which items and times a promotion covers

> Choose eligible menu items, set dates and hours, and limit how often an offer can be used.

Choose eligible items and when the discount applies. The promotion must be active, and each order must qualify.

## Who can do this?

Owners and Managers can create and manage promotions for their shop. Staff cannot change these settings.

## Where to do it

In the web app, select the shop and open **Promotions** > **New promotion**. Choose items first, then the schedule, then spending and usage limits.

## Choose the items

1. Enter the promotion name and discount.
2. Under **Applies to**, choose **Whole menu**, **By category**, or **Specific items**.
3. For a category offer, select at least one category. For individual items, search the menu and select at least one item.
4. Review the selection before continuing. You choose either categories or individual items in this form.

A targeted promotion discounts only matching items in the order. Adding an eligible item does not make the other items eligible. An order with no matching items cannot use that offer. **Whole menu** covers the whole order, including Fast Charge entries. Category and specific-item offers do not discount Fast Charge entries.

## Set the schedule

1. Choose **Always available** to remove weekday and daily time restrictions. Any enabled start or end date still applies.
2. For a restricted schedule, select **Every day** or the required weekdays. Choose **All day**, or enter start and end times.
3. Keep the end time later than the start time. A single time window cannot run across midnight.
4. Turn on **Start date** or **End date** when needed, then enter the date. The end date can be the same as the start date or later. Both dates are included, subject to the weekday and time settings.
5. Review the dates as well as the daily schedule before launching.

With no start date, the promotion can be used once launched if its other conditions are met. With no end date, there is no automatic date cutoff.

## Set spending and usage limits

In the final step, enable **Min spend** if the order must reach a minimum amount before discounts. This checks the order value, while your item selection still determines which items receive the discount.

The form initially has **Max redemptions (promotion total)** enabled with 200 uses. Review that value or turn the limit off if it is not intended. Enter a positive whole number. Reserved uses on unfinished orders also count toward this limit, so it is not a count of completed purchases alone. A separate code limit may run out before the promotion total does.

For an enabled minimum spend or usage limit, enter a positive value. A blank or zero value can be saved without that restriction. Check the summary and the saved promotion; the switch alone does not confirm a limit.

## Platform and market notes

These steps describe the web app. Schedules use the shop's local time in both Great Britain and Germany; check the selected shop when working from another time zone. Prefilled dates use your browser’s current day, which may differ from the day at the shop, so confirm the dates yourself. Spending amounts use the shop's currency. Guest visibility and the chosen way of applying the promotion also affect whether guests can use it on the guest ordering page.

In the mobile app, switching between categories and individual items clears the previous selection. Search filters the visible items without clearing selected items. Review your selections before continuing. The final summary omits chosen items, dates and hours; go back to check them before launching. Mobile usage limits start blank. Confirm dates carefully: the date controls have no clear-date action.

## Troubleshooting

* If you cannot continue, check for an empty item selection, no selected weekdays, an end time before the start time, or reversed dates.
* If an active offer is rejected, check its dates, hours, eligible items, minimum spend and remaining uses. Being within the schedule does not mean every order qualifies.
* If the offer remains unavailable, give Tapp support its name and the message shown.
