# Design a room layout

> Arrange a room’s physical tables on the floor map.

Design the room map so your team can recognize where each table belongs. The layout controls the drawing: the room outline and the position, size, shape, and rotation of tables. It does not change their seat counts or booking limits.

## Who can do this?

Owners and Managers can save room layouts. Staff can use the resulting maps in supported service screens, but cannot change the layout configuration.

## Where

In the web app, open **Settings → Rooms & tables** and choose **Edit layout** for the room. Only physical tables assigned to that room appear in its table tray. Add or assign missing tables before arranging them.

## Shape the room

1. Check the room name and selected shop.
2. Adjust **Width** and **Height** under **Room size**.
3. Drag the square handles at the middle of each wall to change the outline.
4. Use the **+** on a wall to add a corner for an L-shaped area or a recess.
5. Check whether any existing tables now sit outside the room shape.

Changing the room size can adjust table positions or footprints to fit the grid. Review the whole room after resizing rather than assuming every table stayed where you placed it.

## Place and adjust tables

Drag a table from **Unplaced tables** onto the floor. Select a placed table to adjust its footprint, choose **Rectangle** or **Round**. **Rotate** is available for rectangular tables. Switching to Round uses the larger existing dimension as the diameter; check that the new shape fits. Arrow keys move the selected table by one grid step when you are not typing in a field.

Use **Remove from floor**, drag the table back to the tray, or press Delete while the table is selected to remove its map placement. The table itself remains in your shop. Placing it again from the tray starts with a rectangular drawing, so check its shape, size and rotation again.

## Save and review

Resolve warnings about tables outside the room by moving them inside or returning them to the tray. Choose **Save layout** and wait for the saved message. Wait for saving to finish before leaving. When you leave with unsaved changes outside an active save, Tapp asks whether to discard them.

Coordinate changes so only one person edits this room at a time. Saving replaces the room’s saved plan, so a later save can overwrite another person’s changes. Reopen the editor before starting if someone has changed the room or its tables elsewhere.

## Platform and market notes

In the mobile app, tap a table in **Unplaced tables** to add it to the map, then use its controls to adjust the drawing. Press and hold a placed table, then drag it to move it. A red drop outline means the position is unavailable. Drag a green wall handle to move a wall; tap a handle on a long enough wall to divide it before shaping a recess. If **No space** appears, make room or enlarge the room grid before retrying. **Remove from floor** returns the table to the tray without deleting it. Placement and shape changes stay unsaved until you choose **Save**. Wait for saving to finish before leaving.

In the mobile app, shrinking the grid can also shorten the room outline. Check the outline and any overlapping tables afterward. The numbered steps above describe the web app in both supported markets. Drawing a larger table does not add seats, and removing its placement does not make it unavailable for bookings.

## Troubleshooting

If a move snaps back, check for overlapping tables or a position outside the room. A warning about the room shape does not disable **Save layout**; correct the layout before saving. If a table is missing from the tray, check its room assignment. After an uncertain save, reopen the room layout and check the outline and every table before trying again. An error does not necessarily mean nothing was saved. Contact Tapp support if the result remains unclear.
