# Manage your profile and language

> Choose English or German, adjust appearance, and understand the current profile controls.

Use your profile to change the web app’s language and appearance. These preferences apply in the browser you are using. They do not change the shop’s country or other team members’ accounts.

## Who can do this?

Once account setup is complete, signed-in Owners, Managers, and Staff can open their own profile. Changing these display preferences does not require permission to manage the shop. Check the displayed name and email first, especially on a shared computer.

## Where

Open your account menu in the web app and choose **Profile**. The **Language** control appears in the settings section near **Light mode**.

## Choose your language and appearance

1. Review the name and email at the top of the page to confirm the account you are using.
2. Under **Language**, choose **English** or **German**. The interface changes immediately; there is no separate save step for this choice.
3. Turn **Light mode** on or off to change the appearance in this browser.
4. Continue using the app and check that the selected language is displayed. The language choice takes precedence over the language normally selected for the shop.
5. If you use another browser or device, check its language and appearance separately. These choices are not saved as account preferences shared across devices. On a shared computer, they can remain for the next person who signs in.

## Personal details and notifications

The current profile page lets you type into name, email, and phone fields, but it does not save those edits. Do not use it to change your sign-in email or phone number. The phone field can also be blank even when your account has a phone number; that alone does not prove the saved number is missing. Ask Tapp support if your account details need correction.

The **Allow notifications** switch on this page does not change notification delivery permissions and resets when the page is reopened. For mobile notifications, use the device-notification guide and check your device’s notification settings.

## Language on the guest ordering page

Guests can choose a language without opening a staff profile. On the shop homepage or menu, scroll to the bottom and select the **EN** or **DE** button. Choose **English** or **German**; the interface changes immediately. On the menu page, wider screens also show the control in the header.

The choice is remembered in that browser for the site. Without a saved choice, a German browser language selects German; other browser languages start in English. Check the choice again on another device or a different shop web address.

## Language in the mobile app

Open your profile and choose **English** or **German** under **Language**. The choice applies immediately and is saved on this device. Check it separately on other devices. It overrides the selected shop’s default language. Without a saved choice, a loaded shop determines the language; before a shop loads, the device language is used when supported.

Dates and amounts can still use the shop’s formatting. Changing the interface language does not change the currency or convert an amount.

## Platform and market notes

These instructions cover profile language controls and the guest page’s language choice. English and German can be selected for shops in either Great Britain or Germany. Changing language does not change currency, billing arrangements, tax settings, or text entered by your team.

## Troubleshooting

If language or appearance reverts, check whether the browser clears saved preferences, particularly in a private browsing session. Choose the preference again in the browser you intend to use. Dates and amounts may still follow the shop’s country and currency. If personal details appear unchanged after typing, remember that these fields currently have no save action.
