# Set up accounting for your tax adviser

> Enter your DATEV details and account mapping, then confirm them so posting proposals can be exported.

Tapp can prepare a DATEV posting proposal from your closed business days. First, enter the details your tax adviser gives you and the accounts to post to, then confirm the saved configuration. The settings apply to every shop in your German business.

## Who can do this?

Only the business Owner can open, save and confirm these settings. Managers and Staff cannot view or change them.

## Where to do it

In the web app, select a German shop and open **Settings → Accounting & tax adviser**. Have your tax adviser's details ready before you start.

## Steps

1. Under **Tax adviser and chart of accounts**, choose **SKR03** or **SKR04**. Your tax adviser knows which chart they keep for you. Select **Apply defaults** to fill empty fields with the usual accounts of that chart. Your own entries are kept.
2. Enter the **Adviser number (Beraternummer)** (4 to 7 digits), the **Client number (Mandantennummer)** (up to 5 digits) and the **Start of the financial year**. The settings cannot be saved without the start date.
3. Check the **Account number length** and decide with your tax adviser whether to switch on **Lock postings (Festschreibung)**.
4. Under **Contra accounts**, enter the **Daily takings clearing account**. It has no default, so ask your tax adviser. Check the **Tips account** and, if you want one, a **Posting text prefix**. If you use cash drawers, also enter a **Money transit account** (for top-ups and safe drops) and a **Cash difference account** (for approved count differences). A DATEV posting batch for a period with these movements fails without them.
5. Under **Revenue accounts**, check the account for each VAT rate. An account marked **AM** is an automatic account and takes no BU key.
6. Under **Payment methods**, check the contra account for each payment method, including **Unassigned**.
7. Select **Save changes** and wait for **Accounting settings saved**. If a list of missing details appears, use **Go to field** to fix each one and save again.
8. Check the saved configuration with your tax adviser. Then, under **Review account mapping**, select **Confirm reviewed configuration and enable exports**. The page shows **Reviewed on** with the date.

The confirm button stays unavailable while you have unsaved changes, while a detail is missing or invalid, or once the current configuration is confirmed.

## Change the settings later

Every save switches exports off until you confirm the configuration again, so repeat step 8 after each change.

After your first DATEV posting batch, a daily takings clearing, tips, money transit or cash difference account that is already set is locked. This protects periods you have already exported, even after the file expires.

To change a revenue or payment account, enter a date under **Account changes effective from**. After your first DATEV export, the date must come after every period you have already exported. Earlier mappings are kept.

Open **Configuration history (latest 50)** to see each save and confirmation with its date.

## Platform and market notes

These settings are in the web app only, not in the mobile app. They are available for German shops and do not appear for shops in Great Britain.

## Troubleshooting

* **Accounting & tax adviser** is missing: check that a German shop is selected and that you are signed in as the business Owner.
* **The configuration has changed. Reload before saving or reviewing.**: someone saved in the meantime. Reload the page, check the values and try again.
* Use a different account for each role: revenue, payments, daily takings clearing, tips, money transit and cash differences. One account cannot serve more than one of these roles.
* If an account change is refused, choose an effective date after the existing mapping and after every exported DATEV period.
* Contact Tapp support if the settings still cannot be saved.
