Edit the existing booking when plans change. Keeping one booking helps the team follow the visit and avoids duplicate reservations.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers, and Staff can edit bookings. Archived bookings are read-only in the web editing form.

Where

Open Bookings in the web app, select the booking from the list or calendar, and choose the pencil button at the top of its details panel.

Change the visit

  1. Check the selected shop, guest, date, and current status before editing.
  2. Update the name, contact details, or notes as needed. Use Choose or create guest to select the correct guest. Check the details filled into the form and the phone country code.
  3. For a different visit date, choose the date and an offered start time. Review the party size and duration again after changing the date or time.
  4. If duration choice is shown, select the required visit length. The form keeps the existing duration when possible, including a previously saved length that is no longer offered. If duration choice is disabled, editing keeps the booking’s existing duration rather than replacing it with the current standard duration.
  5. Review any selected tables, combinations, and locked assignments. The picker does not show live availability, and capacity warnings do not prevent selection. Check space for the whole party; a table may be occupied at the new time. Locking an assignment does not override another confirmed booking.
  6. Choose Save changes and wait for the update to finish. Reopen the booking and check the saved date, start time, duration, party size, guest, and tables.
Keep a guest name and at least one contact method. For an existing walk-in with its generated name unchanged, you can edit the visit without adding contact details. Clearing the email or phone field here does not remove its saved value. Reopen the booking to check it and contact Tapp support if you need help removing incorrect contact details. Changing visit details does not by itself accept a pending request. Review the booking’s status separately. Contact the guest to agree on a changed time; do not assume that saving an ordinary edit sends them an updated confirmation.

Platform and market notes

These steps describe the web app. The mobile app also offers booking details and editing, with a different layout. Check the displayed date and time for the selected shop in either supported market. For a party already seated, also check its active table session before changing plans. In the mobile app, use the flag beside the phone field to select the country code, then enter the number without repeating that code. Check both parts before saving, especially after choosing an existing guest or pasting a number. Selecting a guest fills their contact details; check that they belong to the person making this visit. Mobile guest names need 2–100 characters using letters, spaces, apostrophes or hyphens; numbers are not accepted. Enter at least one contact method. If you fill both email and phone, correct errors in both fields before saving. The mobile form also requires contact details for an existing walk-in.

Troubleshooting

If saving fails, check the displayed error before retrying. The entire visit must fit one current venue opening period, without crossing a closure or break, and meet current booking limits. A previously saved duration may remain visible in the form but fail the current duration rules when saved; ask an Owner or Manager to review the booking settings if the required choice is unavailable. For a table conflict, inspect the overlapping reservation and change the time or assignment as appropriate. Archived bookings cannot be changed in this form. Saving a past booking can also be rejected, even for a notes-only edit, because the form resubmits its visit date. Contact Tapp support for help with a historical correction. After a failed save, reopen the booking before retrying. If you changed contact details, also check the linked guest profile: those details can change even when the booking update fails.
