Use staff editing to correct a person’s name or update a short note. Names and notes belong to the person’s profile and can appear wherever that profile is used, including other shops. Treat them differently from a role, which applies to one shop’s membership.

Who can do this?

Owners can edit team members, including other Owners. Managers can edit Managers and Staff, but cannot edit an Owner’s details. Staff cannot administer other team members’ profiles.

Where

Open Staff in the web app, select the person, and open the editing dialog. Confirm the selected shop and the person’s identity before changing their information.

Update the profile

  1. Review the first and last name. Each must contain at least two characters for the web form to save.
  2. Correct the names as needed. Use the person’s actual name rather than a shop-specific nickname that would be misleading elsewhere.
  3. Add or update the optional note, up to 64 characters. Keep it appropriate for a shared staff profile. To remove the note, clear its text.
  4. Check the selected role. Leave it unchanged if you are only correcting profile information. Follow the role-change guide when access also needs to change.
  5. Save and wait for the success message. Close the dialog and reopen the profile to verify the name and note.
This dialog does not change email, phone number, or password. Those are account details and are managed separately through the person’s profile settings.

If you also change the role

Profile information and role changes are saved separately. The name or note can be saved even if the later role change fails. After an error, reopen the member’s profile and check each value before trying again. Managers cannot promote anyone to Owner or change an Owner’s role. The shop must retain an Owner, so its only Owner cannot be changed to Manager or Staff.

Platform and market notes

These steps describe the web dialog. The mobile app also provides team details and editing with a different layout. The same profile and role distinctions apply in both supported markets. Changing the interface language does not translate names or notes entered by the team. In the mobile app, a confirmed role change is saved separately and immediately. A later failure when saving the name or note does not undo that role change. Check the saved role as well as the profile after an error.

Troubleshooting

If saving is unavailable, check both name fields. If saving fails, read the message and confirm your own role and the target person’s role. Refresh the profile before overwriting changes another team member may have made. After a connection problem, inspect the saved values rather than assuming nothing changed. Contact Tapp support if the profile still shows unexpected information.
