Your role determines what you can do in the selected shop. The same person can be an Owner in one shop and Staff in another, so check the shop before requesting a change to access.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers, and Staff can use this guide to understand their access. Owners and Managers manage team membership within the limits described below.

Where

Use Staff in the web app to review team members when your role permits it. If you cannot open the team list, ask an Owner or Manager to check your role for the selected shop.

Owner

An Owner can manage team members at every role level, including other Owners. Ownership changes still have safeguards: a shop must retain an Owner. You cannot remove, reassign, or lower the role of its only Owner. If responsibility is changing, have another appropriate team member become an Owner before attempting to remove the last one. Check that the change has succeeded in the correct shop before continuing.

Manager

Managers handle day-to-day administration and can manage Managers and Staff. When editing an existing member’s role, they cannot promote someone to Owner. They cannot change an Owner’s role or details, remove an Owner, or reassign an Owner to another shop. A Manager cannot promote their own account to Owner. Ask an existing Owner when an action requires ownership.

Staff

Staff can carry out supported service tasks such as creating orders, managing reservations, seating guests, and redeeming promotions during checkout. Staff can also find guests and create guest records. The separate guest editing and removal actions require an Owner or Manager. When adding a guest, check for an existing profile first and use their correct contact details. Operational access does not grant permission to administer the team, configure the shop, or manage the promotion catalogue. Some screens may display a link or button that the account cannot use; ask an Owner or Manager to review the requested task rather than assuming the visible control grants access.

Platform and market notes

The web app and mobile app use the same shop memberships, although their screens differ. The role names have the same meaning in both supported markets. Changing the app language does not change permissions. After a role change, refresh the app or sign out and back in if it still shows the previous access. Check the selected shop again before trying the action.

Troubleshooting

If a permitted action fails, confirm the shop and your current role with an Owner or Manager. If the team is changing an Owner, check that another Owner remains. Use each person’s own account rather than sharing an Owner login. Contact Tapp support if the saved membership and available access remain inconsistent after signing in again.
