When a booked guest arrives, check the reservation and seat the party before adding orders to the table. An order for a guest and an order attached to active seating are different: check both the guest and the table when those links matter to your team.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers, and Staff can seat bookings and create orders for their shop.

Where

In the web app, use Bookings to review the reservation and Live floor to seat the party and add a table order.

Seat the booking and add an order

  1. Check that the reservation is confirmed and assigned to suitable tables for the visit.
  2. Open Live floor and find the table showing that reservation. Check the guest and visit time, then choose Seat now.
  3. Wait for seating to finish. Open the table and check the seated party and active visit. If the table already has an active visit, inspect it before attempting to seat the party again.
  4. Finish or safely leave any other order you are working on before choosing Add order to table. This action clears the current basket and opens a fresh order for the active seating.
  5. Add the requested items and check the guest and table context before continuing through checkout. Selecting a table does not by itself prove the order has the intended guest attached.
  6. Return to the table after the order is created and check that it appears among the table’s orders.
The table visit must still be active when the order is created. If another team member closes it while you are ordering, refresh the table and resolve the current seating before trying again.

Mobile option

The mobile booking details screen offers Start order when the booking is neither pending nor archived. Finish or safely leave your current order first: the button clears the current order selection and opens a fresh order flow. It does not delete an already saved order. When you add the first item, the new order uses the booking’s linked guest, if there is one. The guest may not appear before that first item is added; check the guest on the resulting order. This button does not seat the booking or link the order to an active table visit. Use Add order to table in the web app when the order needs to belong to the seated party.

Platform and market notes

These workflows apply in both supported markets. The web app and mobile app have different navigation. Confirm the selected shop, especially when the account can access several locations. Starting an order does not take payment or complete the visit.

Troubleshooting

If Seat now opens a walk-in form instead of the expected reservation, stop and review the booking’s date, status, and table assignment. Refresh the floor before creating another visit. For a seating conflict, check whether the table is already occupied. If an order is missing from the table, inspect the saved order before creating another one and contact Tapp support if its link is unclear.
