Disable a shop when you no longer intend to use it. The shop becomes inactive and disappears from the normal shop list. Its existing records are kept; this action does not delete the shop’s history.

Who can do this?

Only an Owner of the shop can disable it. Managers and Staff cannot complete this action. The business must retain at least one active shop, even if your account also has access to shops belonging to another business.

Where

In the web app, select the intended shop and open Settings. Find Shop status, then Disable this shop. The button is unavailable when your list contains only one active shop.

Disable the intended shop

  1. Check the shop name and confirm it is the location you intend to stop using. Finish the operational work that needs attention before ending normal access.
  2. Confirm that the same business has another active shop. Access to an unrelated shop is not enough to satisfy this requirement. Disable one shop at a time and refresh the list before starting another.
  3. Choose Disable this shop and check the shop named in the confirmation.
  4. Read the consequences before choosing Disable shop. Use Cancel if you need to review anything first.
  5. Wait for the action to finish. The app refreshes the list and selects another available shop, if one is available to your account.
  6. Check the newly selected shop before continuing work. Confirm that the disabled shop is no longer shown in the active list.

Records and payment activity

Existing records are retained. Disabling a shop is not a way to erase past transactions or clear an outstanding balance. The action also asks the payment service to deactivate the linked shop, but that separate step can fail after Tapp has already made the shop inactive. If the shop or its terminal still appears able to take payments, contact Tapp support and avoid starting further sales there. Do not rely solely on the shop disappearing from the list as confirmation that every payment service has stopped.

Platform and market notes

These steps describe the web app and apply in Great Britain and Germany. Review any remaining billing questions through the billing section or Tapp support. Do not treat deactivation as confirmation that all existing charges or account arrangements have been settled.

Troubleshooting

If the button is unavailable despite another active shop, refresh the shop list. A list that has not loaded can also leave the button unavailable. If Tapp says this is the last active shop, check the other shops within the same business. Refresh before trying again. After a connection error, inspect the shop list first: deactivation may have succeeded even if refreshing the list failed. If the shop is already absent, ask support to check its status instead of repeatedly submitting the action. There is no reactivation control in this settings flow.
