Sign in to the mobile app to register a phone or tablet for your shop. Registration happens automatically; there is no separate Register button. A recognizable device name helps your team choose the right screen when sending a payment.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers, and Staff can register the device they use with their account. Owners and Managers can also review the shop’s device list. Staff can check their own device in their profile.

Where

Open the mobile app, sign in, and select the intended shop. Then open Profile settings using the profile button and find This device.

Register and check your device

  1. Open the mobile app on the phone or tablet you intend to use.
  2. Sign in and select the correct shop.
  3. Wait for the app to finish loading your account.
  4. Open Profile settings and find This device.
  5. Check the device name and platform. If you will receive payments sent from another device, turn on POS mode.
An Owner or Manager can also open Store Devices to check that the device appears for the shop. Opening the web app in a browser does not register that browser through this mobile setup.

Give the device a clear name

In This device, change Device name, then choose Save name. Use a name such as “Front counter tablet” that colleagues can recognize. Use no more than 100 characters. The name cannot be blank or already used by another device in the shop. Spaces at the beginning and end are removed when you save. The save button appears when you change the name.

Platform and market notes

The workflow applies to the mobile app in both supported markets. If another team member signs in on the same phone for the same shop, registration can keep the existing device name while associating the device with their account. Check the name before sending a payment. After a full restart or new sign-in, check POS mode again: registration can turn it back on. Registration alone does not enable every payment method. Tap to Pay also needs a supported device and the appropriate payment settings.

Troubleshooting

If This device is missing, check your connection, signed-in account, and selected shop, then fully close and restart the app. This is also worth checking after switching shops; changing the selected shop may not complete registration immediately. If a name will not save, check its length and whether another device uses it. A save error can also mean a connection or account problem. Reopen Profile settings and check the saved name before retrying. Ask Tapp support for help if the device still does not appear; repeated reinstalling is not a necessary setup step.
