Use the walk-in flow for guests who have arrived without a reservation. If the party already has a booking, find and seat that reservation instead so the team does not create a second visit.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers, and Staff can seat walk-ins and choose or create guests. Owners and Managers change the shop’s booking limits and table configuration.

Where

Open Live floor in the web app and choose Seat now on a suitable free table. If the table is showing a reservation, check the guest before proceeding: that action can seat the existing booking instead.

Seat the party

  1. Optionally choose Choose or create guest. Select an existing guest or enter a new one. You can also continue without a named guest.
  2. Set How many seats? with the plus and minus buttons. The control offers 1 to 50, but the shop’s booking limits still apply when saving.
  3. Review Suggested table(s) and the selected table. If you opened the form from a particular table, that manual choice can take priority over the suggestion. Changing party size clears the previous manual choice, so check the selection again.
  4. Use See all tables if you need a different table. Check capacity, room, existing occupants, and upcoming bookings. A suggestion can contain a configured combination of tables. A table hidden from online booking can still be used by staff when suitable.
  5. Choose Continue once and wait for the seating result.
  6. Open the table details and verify the active party, start time, expected end, and occupied tables before starting an order.
The web form does not have a duration picker. The booking uses the duration returned with the seating suggestion, falling back to the shop’s standard duration when needed. Seating does not copy that duration into the active table visit’s expected end, so the table can show no end time. Use Extend time to set an expected end if needed, then check the saved result against upcoming reservations. Suggestions consider party size and confirmed reservations during the proposed visit. Table priority is considered before spare seats, so the suggestion is not always the smallest table. Pending requests do not block suggestions: check those requests and the current floor before seating. A suggestion does not reserve the table while you decide.

Platform and market notes

In the mobile app, the party-size control offers 1 to 20. Changing it clears a manual table choice. Guest search starts after three characters; use Load more when offered before creating another guest. Under See all tables, filter by room and choose one table. This replaces the current selection, including a suggested table combination. Check the result, then tap Seat now once. Keep the device’s date, time and time zone correct for the venue. Seating does not create or pay an order.

Troubleshooting

The manual table list hides occupants known to the current floor view, but does not filter by party size or upcoming reservations. Check capacity and the booking schedule yourself. A missing suggestion does not make a manual choice suitable. If a table becomes occupied while you are completing the form, seating can fail. The visit must also fit the shop’s opening hours and booking limits, even when a table is suggested. The visit is recorded before the table is occupied. If seating fails, Tapp attempts to remove the unfinished visit from the active booking schedule. Check both Bookings and the floor before trying again, especially after a connection problem. Do not assume that an error means nothing was saved. Contact Tapp support if an extra booking remains or the seating result is unclear.
