Prepare your first menu by importing a file or adding items yourself. The setup task is complete when your shop has at least one category and one menu item.

Who can do this?

The Owner opens menu setup from the checklist. Owners and Managers can continue editing the menu from the regular Menu page afterward.

Where to do it

Open the setup checklist in the web app and choose the menu task after completing your shop details.

Import a menu

  1. Choose a supported menu file on the upload screen.
  2. Start the import and wait while Tapp processes it.
  3. Review the resulting categories and items, including their names, prices and VAT choices.
  4. Correct anything that needs changing from Menu.
You can close the setup panel during processing. The setup button continues showing import progress and can reopen the result when it is ready. Avoid uploading the same menu again while it is still processing.

Add the menu yourself

  1. Select Skip, I’ll add manually.
  2. Enter a unique category name of up to 50 characters and add it with the plus button or Enter. Create at least one category, then continue.
  3. Select a category for the first item.
  4. Enter its name, price and VAT choice. Add a photo, cost, duration, tags, variations or description if needed.
  5. Save the item. Check that it appears in the list of added items.
  6. Add more items or finish the menu setup.
The optional item cost helps with margin reporting. Leave it blank if you have not recorded that cost; do not enter zero just to fill the field. Enter amounts without a currency symbol or thousands separators. Item price and cost accept a decimal point or comma with up to two decimal places. Use a decimal point for variation amounts, then add the variation to the item before saving. A variation left in its entry fields is not yet part of the item. For an item photo, use JPG, JPEG or PNG up to 5 MB. After each save, check the category, VAT and duration before adding the next item: these values stay selected. New items start as available and visible to guests; review them promptly on Menu. The X beside a category in setup deletes that category and its items immediately, without a confirmation. Inspect existing items on Menu before removing a category, especially when returning after an import. If you reopen the item step, its added-item counter starts again. Check Menu for previously saved items instead of adding duplicates just to enable the finish button.

Platform notes

These steps describe the web app. Saved items become part of this shop’s menu. Review their guest visibility on the Menu page before relying on how the menu appears to guests.

Market notes

Choose VAT from the options shown for your shop’s market. Review imported VAT values as well as manually entered ones.

Troubleshooting

If an import fails, review its error or use the manual flow. If setup remains incomplete, check that both a category and an item exist. If a photo fails after saving an item, the item can still be saved successfully; add its photo from Menu instead of creating it again.
