Choose how people apply the offer separately from when it is available. A schedule controls timing; it does not mean the discount is automatically added to every qualifying order.

Who can do this?

Owners and Managers choose the application method when setting up a promotion for their shop.

Where to do it

In the web app, open Promotions, select New promotion and complete the offer and schedule steps. Choose the application method in the launch step before starting the promotion.

Choose the method

  • Staff applies at POS: the offer can be selected in the checkout offer list without a code. This method does not allow a voucher code to apply the offer.
  • Staff applies + shareable code: the offer can be selected without a code, and you can also provide a campaign code for sharing. Adding a code does not make it compulsory.
  • Code required: the offer must be applied using a valid code. It cannot be selected directly from the checkout offer list.
The labels describe the application method. Access still matters: browsing the current web checkout offer list requires an Owner or Manager. Staff can apply a valid code but may be unable to load that list. Despite the staff-focused labels, guests can also select a no-code offer from their basket when guest visibility is on and the order qualifies.

Set up a code

For Code required, enter a campaign code before launching. For Staff applies + shareable code, the code is optional in this step. Use 8–64 characters from A–Z and 0–9, without spaces or punctuation. Codes are not case-sensitive. Check the form’s validation message before continuing. If you set a maximum number of uses per code, enter a positive whole number. Leaving that limit blank allows unlimited uses of that code, subject to the promotion’s other limits and conditions.

Check before launch

Review guest visibility as a separate setting. Turning it off prevents guests from using the offer, including through a shared code. When visibility is on, a code-required offer still needs a code and does not become a browsable offer. Check the dates, daily times, eligible products and minimum spend too. A valid code does not bypass a paused or ended promotion, an expired schedule or an exhausted limit. Only one offer applies to an order.

Platform and market notes

These steps describe the web app for shops in Great Britain and Germany. The selected shop determines the offer’s currency and local schedule. Choose the correct shop before creating or sharing a code.

Troubleshooting

If launch is unavailable for a code-required offer, check that the code is present and follows the format shown. If a code cannot be redeemed, check that the chosen application method supports codes, then review the promotion’s status and conditions. If launching fails, check the Promotions list before starting again. The promotion may already have been saved even if its code could not be created or activation failed. Open that record and check its status and codes before sharing anything. Contact Tapp support if the saved settings do not match the intended method.
