Staff can use their own phone or tablet and choose an available payment device during checkout. Managing the shop’s complete device list is an Owner or Manager task. This guide helps you find the controls available to you without needing the full management page.

Who can do this?

Staff can adjust their current device in the mobile app. Owners and Managers can also manage other devices in their shop. Your access follows your role in the selected shop, so check the shop before asking for a setting to be changed.

Where

In the mobile app, open Profile settings and look under This device. Staff do not have access to manage the shop’s full device list. The web app’s full device management page is also restricted to Owners and Managers.

What Staff can do

  1. Sign in to the mobile app and select the shop to register the current device automatically.
  2. In This device, give it a clear Device name and choose Save name.
  3. Turn POS mode on if this device should receive payments sent from another device.
  4. Open Terminal mode, when shown, to prepare a customer-facing payment screen.
  5. During a supported checkout, choose an available device for the payment you want to send.
Your profile also has separate notification and device tipping preferences. Changing settings for your current phone does not grant access to manage other devices. If colleagues share that phone, agree on its name and POS setting: these describe the device they will also use.

When to ask an Owner or Manager

Ask for help when another device needs its POS setting changed or its registration removed. Give the manager its name, platform, and the shop you are using. They can identify it in the shop device list and check with its user before changing it.

Platform and market notes

These role differences apply in both supported markets. Payment-device selection can be available during checkout even though the full device management page is unavailable. Sending still requires an eligible order and a suitable device in the same shop.

Troubleshooting

If no payment device appears, check the selected shop and ask its user to open the mobile app with POS enabled. The mobile payment picker excludes the phone you are currently using. If This device is missing, check your connection and fully restart the app, especially after changing shops. If you have different roles in different shops, the Store Devices link may appear or disappear unexpectedly. The management screen checks your role in the selected shop. Ask an Owner or Manager for help if the link does not match your access. Contact Tapp support if your own settings remain unavailable.
