Check the basket’s items, quantities, discounts and total. Keep this order open until payment is resolved.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers and Staff can take payment for orders in their shop.

Where to do it

In the web app, open Point of sale, build the basket and select Continue to payment. Wait for payment choices. If preparation or a discount fails, check the message.

Choose how to pay

  • QR code: show the customer the code to open the payment page.
  • Payment link: choose Copy, then paste and send the link to the customer, or choose Share. If Share reports that the link was copied, paste and send it yourself.
  • SMS: select the country and enter the number without its country code. The form adds it automatically. Check the recipient before sending.
  • Cash: receive the money, check the amount and confirm the cash payment in the app.
  • Other device: choose a registered device to take payment for the same order. Follow Send payment to another device.
  • Pay later: leave the order unpaid so you can return to it from History.
Copying, sharing or sending a link does not prove receipt or payment. Wait for the order to show successful payment.

Finish the order

On the web QR, link and SMS screens, Done clears the basket and leaves the order open; it does not cancel the payment request. Return to it in History. After payment and service, select Mark order complete for receipt options. A paid order may still need completion. With Pay later, check History before handing over to a teammate. The order still needs payment; an empty basket does not prove settlement.

Change the payment method

Choose Change payment method when the customer wants to pay another way. Wait for the response and check the order before collecting again. Closing the payment screen or returning to the method choices does not by itself prove that a previous payment was cancelled. If the customer has already tried to pay, check the existing order before sending another link or accepting cash.

Platform and market notes

These web steps apply to shops in Great Britain and Germany. Direct Tap to Pay needs a compatible mobile device; choose Other device to send the order there. The shop determines its currency. In the mobile app’s payment choices, tap a method, then Continue. Tapping the method only selects it. Send to another device opens the device flow directly. Check the amount and any included-tip caption before continuing. Tap to Pay, QR code, payment link and SMS require at least £1 or €1 before tips for those currencies. Tips do not meet this minimum. Wait for the total to load. Cash is unavailable when disabled by the shop. Tap to Pay also depends on the device; its appearance does not prove readiness. For mobile cash, check Total to collect when a tip is shown. Add a comment if needed and select Confirm only after receiving the money. The form closes before confirmation finishes; wait for the order’s result. If saving the comment or confirming payment fails, check the same order before retrying.

Troubleshooting

If the mobile app reports a changed amount and reopens payment choices, check the refreshed total before choosing again. If refreshing fails, check your connection. A payment-failed warning can disappear after a few seconds without the payment succeeding. Check the order status in History. Retry failed payments from the existing order. Reopening an active QR or link payment can retrieve the existing link. If the customer reports an unexpected amount, possible second charge or charge on an unpaid order, refresh History and contact Tapp support with the order number before collecting again or refunding. A paid status alone does not resolve a discrepancy. If cash confirmation fails after receiving money, check the order before recording it again.
