A Pay later order remains unpaid until payment is collected and recorded. Reopen the existing order to keep its items and payment under the same number.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers and Staff can edit unpaid orders and take payment for their shop in Great Britain and Germany.

Where to do it

In the web app:
  1. Open History and select the order. Check its shop, number, guest, items and total.
  2. Select Take pay later payment, choose a method and follow the instructions.
  3. Confirm cash only after receiving it. For a QR code, link or another device, wait for successful payment.
  4. When paid and service is finished, select Mark complete. Send or print a receipt if needed.
Choosing Pay later again leaves the bill unpaid. Sending a payment link does not confirm payment.

Change items in the web app

Select Edit to open the order in Point of sale. This replaces the displayed basket, so finish any separate basket you want to keep first. Opening the editor refreshes menu prices and removes unavailable items. Each item keeps its original price list if active; archived lists fall back to standard prices. Check options, quantities and totals, correct missing lines, then continue to payment using the same order number. You cannot remove the final item with the minus button. To abandon unsaved changes, navigate to another web-app section before continuing to payment. The app attempts to restore Pay later and clears the basket. Failure leaves you in the editor with an error. This does not undo prices refreshed on opening. On the success screen, Mark order complete completes the order. Skip, next order closes without completing; finish it later in History. The large amount excludes a separate tip. Check the receipt’s tip and total-paid breakdown.

Platform and market notes

In the mobile app, open the unpaid order from the order list. On Your order, select Choose payment to open the payment choices, or Modify order to change its items. These controls appear when the order has items. If a guest name appears, tap it to open the linked profile. Item changes are saved as you make them. Before selecting a payment method, use the editor’s Back button to discard them. Wait for the app to restore the earlier items and unpaid status; on failure, check the order before retrying. Prices are recalculated during restoration, so check the total again. Returning from payment does not undo edits already kept when choosing the method. After an interrupted edit or app restart, reopen the same order and verify items, options, notes, prices and status. Automatic recovery is not guaranteed. Contact Tapp support if anything is wrong before collecting payment.

Troubleshooting

In the web app, send payment only to a registered shop device. The sent message can appear despite delivery failure; check that device and History before retrying. Reopen the order after choosing Pay later: the web confirmation can appear even if saving failed. Closing the payment-method picker leaves an existing link active; choosing another method does not prove the old attempt was cancelled. Resolve uncertainty with Tapp support before collecting again. If another order is already being paid in Point of sale, resolve that payment first. If continuing to payment fails after web editing, check History before retrying. Saving replaces items in separate steps, so only part of the basket may be saved. Leaving does not restore those changed items. Another person may also have changed the status. Keep the order number and contact support if items or totals are wrong. Retry a failed payment from the existing order. If the customer reports a charge but payment remains unclear, contact Tapp support before charging again.
