Apply the offer to the customer’s existing basket before taking payment. Check the final total with the customer after the discount has been accepted. Do not treat a code preview as confirmation that the order is ready to charge.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers and Staff can apply valid codes to orders in their shop. The current web offer list requires an Owner or Manager to load. If you use a Staff account and cannot browse offers, ask an Owner or Manager for help. Managing campaigns and creating codes are separate tasks for Owners and Managers.

Where to do it

Open Point of sale in the web app and build the basket. Select Add discount or code below the order note. You do not need to open the promotion management page to enter a customer’s code.

Apply the offer

  1. Confirm the shop and the customer’s products and quantities.
  2. Enter the supplied code and select Apply. If you have access to the offer list, you can instead select an offer that does not require a code.
  3. Read any rejection message. A code-required offer cannot be applied by simply selecting its name.
  4. Check the discount name, amount and updated total in the basket.
  5. Select Continue to payment. Wait for the final check to finish and verify the amount before collecting payment.
For an offer limited to certain products, only qualifying items receive the discount. A code can look valid during the initial check but fail when the full order is checked. Review any error instead of subtracting the expected amount yourself. For a code, the basket amount is a preview based on the total when you checked it. After changing products or quantities, check the code again and compare the final amount at payment.

Replace or remove a discount

Only one offer applies to an order. Selecting another replaces the current choice; discounts do not add together. To remove a discount, use the × beside it when available and check the updated total. Removing a newly selected offer can reveal an earlier discount already saved on the order. Check its name and total, and remove the remaining discount too if it should no longer apply. If replacing an offer fails, recheck the order. The previous discount may already have been removed, so do not assume either offer still applies.

Platform and market notes

These steps describe the web app for shops in Great Britain and Germany. Codes belong to a shop, and offer schedules use that shop’s local time. Guest visibility controls the customer’s ability to redeem an offer themselves; a staff checkout follows its own access rules. Do not use a previous payment link after changing the offer or total. Check an already-started payment before collecting money another way.

Troubleshooting

Check the code, promotion status, dates, minimum spend, eligible items and remaining uses when an offer is rejected. If too many attempts are reported, wait before trying again. Do not guess further codes. If payment has started or the order is no longer editable, inspect it in History before attempting changes. Contact Tapp support with the order number and message if the final discount remains unclear.
