Use Update stock in the mobile app when an item temporarily runs out or becomes available again. This changes its stock status while keeping its other menu details.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers and Staff can update stock for their shop. Creating items or changing their full details requires an Owner or Manager.

Where to do it

In the mobile app, choose Stock from your shop tools. Staff can also use Update stock from the home screen’s quick actions. The screen heading is Update stock.

Mark an item out of stock

  1. Confirm that you are working in the correct shop.
  2. Choose the item’s category using the category buttons.
  3. Find the item by name and photo. Check its current stock label.
  4. Tap the item card to change it from In stock to Out of stock.
  5. Wait for the updated label before continuing.
  6. Select Continue to leave the stock screen when you are finished.
The change is sent when you tap the item. Continue returns to the previous screen; it is not a separate save button. Avoid tapping repeatedly while waiting for the update, because the next tap can reverse the status.

Restore availability

Return to the same category when stock is available again. Tap the item marked Out of stock and check that it returns to In stock. You do not need to recreate the item or re-enter its price.

Check orders after a stock change

This is an availability switch, not a count of units remaining. Restore the item manually when it can be sold again; the screen does not ask for a restock time or automatically count sales down from a quantity. Out-of-stock item cards cannot be selected in the mobile ordering menu. An already-open basket can still show an item that has since run out. Availability is checked again when the basket is submitted, and unavailable items can be removed. Check the final items and total before charging, especially when another team member is updating stock. If all items are unavailable, the empty order cannot be submitted. Marking an item out of stock does not cancel or refund orders already placed. Handle an existing customer’s order separately if it can no longer be fulfilled.

Platform notes

These steps use the mobile app’s current stock screen. Its labels can appear in English. Use Menu in the web app for item details and price lists. Use the mobile app for the stock changes described here. Stock status and guest visibility are separate. Hiding an item or category from guests is not the same as marking it out of stock.

Market notes

The stock action works for both Great Britain and Germany. It does not change the item’s price, tax choice or category.

Troubleshooting

An empty category view can also appear while items are loading. Wait for the items to appear before treating it as an empty category. If the label does not change, check your connection and reopen the category before retrying. Refresh another already-open ordering screen to check its latest availability. Contact Tapp support if the item repeatedly returns to the wrong state.
