Before leaving a payment, decide whether the customer will pay later or the order should be cancelled. After payment, complete the order when service ends.

Who can do this?

Owners, Managers and Staff can manage their shop’s orders and send receipts.

Where to do it

Use the web app’s Point of sale payment screens. Use History to check the result or return to an order later.

Leave an unfinished payment

  1. Use the back action on the QR code, payment link or SMS screen.
  2. Read the payment cancellation message and check the amount.
  3. Choose Don’t cancel to return to the payment, or confirm if you intend to stop it.
  4. Check the order in History afterwards.
This path attempts to stop the active payment and leave the order for payment later. The screen can close even when that change fails, so do not assume the payment was cancelled or the order was saved as Pay later until you check its status. Done on a QR code, payment-link or SMS screen leaves the order open and any sent payment link active. It clears the basket so you can serve the next customer. Return to the same order in History to check payment. Choosing Pay later also leaves the bill unpaid. It is different from cancelling the whole order. If the customer reports a charge, resolve the existing payment before collecting money again.

Cancel an existing order you are editing

When editing an order from History in the web app, Delete order appears above the basket. Check the order number: this cancels the whole order immediately, without another confirmation. For a paid order that needs money returned, use the refund guide.

Cancel in the mobile app

In the mobile app, press and hold a Submitted or Pay Later order to open its actions. Choose View details to inspect it, or Cancel order to cancel it. Check the order number and amount in the confirmation, then confirm once. Closing the actions menu alone does not cancel the order. On mobile Pay Later details and remote-payment screens, confirming cancellation closes the screen before it finishes. Refresh History after success or failure before retrying. A failed Pay Later cancellation can change status, items or prices; verify the result. Paid orders need the refund process.

Complete a paid order

Wait for Payment received, then select Mark order complete once service is finished. The completion records who finished the order. Skip, next order clears the basket for your next customer without completing that paid order. You can return to it in History and mark it complete later. Skipping does not refund or cancel the payment. In the mobile app, choose Mark order completed on a paid order’s receipt screen and wait. Success can return you to sales automatically. Return to sales alone does not complete the order. If completion fails or another device completed it, check the saved status before retrying.

Send the receipt

After completion, choose Email or SMS, check the recipient and send. Use the full international phone number for SMS. A successful send returns you to the next order. You can also choose Done, next order and send the receipt later from History. To print, open the order in History and use the shop’s configured receipt printer. Check the result before handing the receipt to the customer.

Platform and market notes

The mobile differences are described above; other steps use the web app. Both apply in Great Britain and Germany. When payment is sent to another device, check that device and History for the result. Returning to an empty basket does not confirm payment or cancellation.

Troubleshooting

If completion fails, refresh History before trying again. If sending a receipt fails, correct the recipient and resend the same order’s receipt; do not charge the customer again. Contact Tapp support with the order number when payment or cancellation remains unclear.
