Update a guest’s contact information when their details change or a mistake needs correcting. Check the profile carefully before saving, especially when two people have similar names. The edit applies to the selected shop’s guest profile.

Who can do this?

Owners and Managers can edit profiles through Guests. Staff can search and view profiles. Owners, Managers, and Staff can identify the guest at an active table visit using the separate mobile flow below.

Where

In the web app, select the shop and open Guests. Select the person’s row, then choose the pencil control to open Edit guest.

Update the details

  1. Verify the name and contact details against the person you intend to edit.
  2. Correct the full name. The web form requires at least two characters and allows up to 100.
  3. Update the email or phone as needed. Check the email spelling before saving.
  4. Save and wait for the success message and the editor to close.
  5. Reopen the profile and confirm that the corrected details appear.
In the web editor, you can clear an optional contact field when the stored information should be removed. An email address must be in a valid email format. If you only want to correct a spelling mistake, edit the profile rather than deleting and recreating the person.

Existing contacts and walk-in guests

In the web editor, an email or phone already used by a different active guest in the same shop can prevent saving. Find that profile and check which person the contact belongs to. This edit screen does not merge two profiles. A guest entry created for an unidentified walk-in can become an identified guest when it has a name and at least one contact method. Confirm those details with the person before adding them.

Identify a seated guest in the mobile app

  1. Open Live floor, select the occupied table, and tap the guest under Currently seated. Wait for their saved details to load.
  2. Enter a name and at least one contact method. Select the phone’s country code separately, then enter the remaining number. Complete or clear an invalid phone even when an email is present.
  3. Choose Save changes, wait for the editor to close, then check the seated guest and linked booking.
Matching contact details can select an existing guest instead of changing the original profile. The entered name updates that guest; the visit and its booking move to them. The original profile remains. This does not merge profiles. Confirm that all details belong to the intended person before saving. This mobile flow does not remove stored contacts when you clear a field. When it selects another existing guest, it keeps that guest’s contacts. Ask an Owner or Manager to use Guests for contact removal or further corrections. If details fail to load, close and reopen the editor before entering changes.

Platform and market notes

Both flows use the selected shop’s profiles in both supported markets. Editing does not move a guest to another shop, take a payment, or change the status of an existing booking.

Troubleshooting

If saving is unavailable, check the name length. If saving fails, check the email, possible duplicate contacts, your role, and the connection. Keep the intended corrections available until the update succeeds. Contact Tapp support if the same valid change repeatedly fails. If you close the editor after choosing Save, the update may still finish. Closing it does not cancel a save already in progress. If the connection drops or you are unsure whether saving worked, reload the guest list and reopen the profile. Compare the saved name, email and phone with your intended corrections before trying again.
